West Met Meet #13
Three Epping Athletes were out on the 4k run at this weeks West Met

Vaughan_Greystanes_2013.jpgJames Palethorpe was the first home, finishing 3rd in just over 14 minutes, helping him consolidate his 3rd place in the seasons overall standings. Doug was hot on his heals, finishing in 14:40 in 9th place, and edging his way into the top stop in the open male leaderboard. And Vaughan put on a fast last lap, overtaking 3 people in the last 500m to finish in 35th place.

Next week is the State Short Course Championships at UpJohn Park. Email for more info. The week after, the west met will meet at Rydalmere (map below), at 2pm. Note that this is the day before City2Surf and wil not host an 8km, just a 2 and a 4km.

West Met Race #12
Vaughan and Doug were both out on the trails today at the West Met X-Country meet in Emu Plains

Both where in the 'medium' distance race, which at 5km was 1k futher than normal. Described as a 'flat' cource,, this rather hilly and twisty race was made worse by the unusual Winter heat. Still, both runners stepped up to the mark - Doug came in 6th overall in a time of just under 20 minutes. Vaughan struggled slightly with the extra distance, but still managed to hold on to finish in 23 minutes.

Next weeks West Met is the much easier course at Greystanes (see below). Contact here for more information, or speak to Doug at training.

His longest previosu race was a hallf marathon n much easier terrain, which he completed in just over 80 minutes.
