City2Surf results
6 Epping members help Epping to finish 8th at the weekends City2Surf.

Six of Epping athletes joined 70,000 other runners for the early morning start at last Sundays City2Surf. Doug Kelley was the first runner home, finishing in a time of just over 55minutes, just 6 minutes down from last years time despite recently overcoming his 12 month knee injury. James finished a minute later, struggling for form after recovering from his June trail marathon but still finishing strong. Alex 'Matthew Hicks' Kelly made up the 3rd scoring finishing for the team, finishing in a very imprssive 65 minutes despite only signing up for the race 1 day before hand and focussing his training on sprints all winter.

Shalini Vinod got hereself a pb, finishing not long after in 1:18; Graeme Brown repted the benifits of the tough Sunday morning hill runs, squeezing undeer 90minutes; and Margaret Walker decided to race the 14km course this year, finishing in 100minutes

Well done to the entire team!

Claire Fameli at state school cross country
Congrats to Claire Fameli, who had a great run at her first State level School XCountry Champs.

To run at the State Combined High School XCountry Championship, competitors first need to go through 3 qualifying rounds. Claire came 41st out of the states 86 best runners at the tough Eastern Creek course on Friday 19th July 2013.

West Met Meet #13
Three Epping Athletes were out on the 4k run at this weeks West Met

Vaughan_Greystanes_2013.jpgJames Palethorpe was the first home, finishing 3rd in just over 14 minutes, helping him consolidate his 3rd place in the seasons overall standings. Doug was hot on his heals, finishing in 14:40 in 9th place, and edging his way into the top stop in the open male leaderboard. And Vaughan put on a fast last lap, overtaking 3 people in the last 500m to finish in 35th place.

Next week is the State Short Course Championships at UpJohn Park. Email for more info. The week after, the west met will meet at Rydalmere (map below), at 2pm. Note that this is the day before City2Surf and wil not host an 8km, just a 2 and a 4km.
