Matthew Hicks wins West Met handicaps.
What a day at the west met! Matthew Hicks storms to a huge win at this years west met 4km handicap.

Matthew Hicks storms to a huge win at this years west met 4km handicap. At the handicap, runners are set off at different times depending on their performance over the season. Matt had the difficult task of having to catch runners with a full 8 minutes head start, whilst holding of some of the best runners in the state just a few minutes behind. After catching almost all runners ahead of him with still half a lap to go, Matt stormed the last 1km to pull away from the rest of the field - finishing 20 seconds ahead of 2nd place and a full minute ahead of everyone else.

Margaret Walker
Congrats to Margaret Walker for completing last weekend 14km City2Surf in 92 minutes.

James Palethorpe at State Short Course X-Country
James Palethorpe had a fantastic run last week at the state short course cross country.

After a steady start, James put in a blistering 2nd lap of the 3 lap course, overtaking many of his closest rivals from previous cross countries this year. He finished the tough 7.5km race in 6th place in the highly competitive M35+ category in a time of 28:40.

 


Three of Eppings runners braved heavy rain, hail and strong winds at last weeks wet met cross country race.

Elena Cubban was the first to get drenched, winning her age group extending her lead at the top of the short course W55+ competition. In the next race, James Palethorpe dropped his 1st point of the season narrowly finishing 2nd to Doug Kelley in the highly competitive medium coarse M30+ race.
